Lately, I have found myself in many different conversations about shared leadership.

Perhaps the topic shows up as a response to the uncertainties of today: when pressure mounts, conflicts are bound to do the same.

Being a part of a team is the normal state for a lot of people – from solopreneurs to big businesses, and everyone in between.

But what happens when there’s a glitch in the collaboration? When views on vision and way forward collide – or when someone feels pressured, ignored, or left out?

A million different challenges can show up in a group – but one thing is true for all of them:

It’s better to try and fix that glitch than leave it alone. Problems that are ignored tend to increase in size.

Three ingredients of equitable relationships are: respect, transparency, and authenticity.

Respect for the views of others. Trying to understand what they need, and how you can help them with that.

Transparency in sharing your own perspective. Communicating your point of view without guilt, blame or self-disregard.

Authenticity in your communication. Sharing truthfully without verbal or emotional barriers.

Empathy is the key that unlocks the potential of a group. It also minimizes the potential damage of a glitch. I advise you to use it as a filter going forward.

With love,
